Our Story

From Kyoto to the Bay Area.

Demiya was founded by Demi Ebara from Kyoto, Japan, a mother of four, with the goal of bringing Japanese comfort food to the Bay Area.

Inspired by Japanese Yoshoku culture — a uniquely Japanese style of Western-influenced cuisine that began during the Meiji era — Demiya focuses on rich curry sauces, crispy katsu, and a variety of carefully prepared dishes made with consistency and care.

Since opening the first location in 2016, Demiya has continued to grow while staying rooted in quality, flavor, and everyday comfort food that people can enjoy regularly.

Today, Demiya proudly serves communities across the Bay Area and continues to evolve while honoring its original spirit.

The chicken karaage dish gave a good amount of chicken, and the sauce was fantastic. I wish they gave more rice, and thag fact would make this dish much better. I thought the curry flavor could also have been richer, but overall really good!

The tonkatsu curry rice is so yummy. Tonkatsu is cooked to perfection. I like that you can choose the spicy level of the curry. I usually go with 1. Level 2 is pretty spicy.

I've been here a couple times with some friends, and the curry is always delicious. I've ordered the Mapo Nasu Curry Udon and the Buta-Shabu Curry Rice, and they've left me feeling satisfied.
